The difference between calcium chloride dihydrate and calcium chloride anhydrousCalcium chloride is a chemical composed of chlorine and calcium.Very hygroscopic,Easily deliquescent when exposed to air. It is a typical ionic halide and appears as white, hard fragments or particles at room temperature. It is a colorless cubic crystal, white or off-white, available in flake, spherical, granular and powdery forms. Calcium chloride is divided into calcium chloride dihydrate and calcium chloride anhydrous according to the content. So how to tell the difference between the two?
1. Appearance difference: Calcium chloride dihydrate is generally in the shape of 1-2 mm flakes or balls with a smooth surface. Calcium chloride anhydrous is generally in the shape of balls with a diameter of 2-6 mm (the surface is spiny and spherical). High-purity chloride Calcium is white, and calcium chloride with low purity has a lower whiteness.
2. Content difference: From the perspective of calcium chloride content, the calcium chloride content in calcium chloride dihydrate is 74%, while the calcium chloride content in anhydrous calcium chloride is as high as 94%.
3. Difference in existence form: Calcium chloride dihydrate and calcium chloride anhydrous are classified according to the existence form of calcium chloride molecules in the substance. Each calcium chloride molecule in calcium chloride dihydrate exists in the form of two crystal waters, while anhydrous calcium chloride contains basically no water and only a small amount of external water (about a few percentage points); the existence form of the substance are different, so the water content is also different.
